2019年7月17日，该视频被发布到Reddit的/r/YouTubeHaiku，[3]获得大量关注。致使其他社交媒体用户在他们的Discord服务器上制作类似的视频。

在2020年6月18日发布的Minecraft Java版1.16-rc1中，此梗正式被官方吸纳，Aww man!被加入到游戏开屏的闪烁标语中。[4]

在中国大陆，通常是有人在QQ群或微信群中发出“Creeper?”作为开头，了解这个meme的其他群员会将歌词接龙下去，捣乱者（比如第二个视频中的空夏）会接上其他的梗或歌曲。
