本模板的用意是為了迴避{{Cite journal}}中所出現的全形標點符號，例如，或「」，這些符號有些可能只會出現在繁體版本，此外也是為了避免在英語文獻中穿插中文字（例如「2004年」）。相關指引參見CITE。

此模板專門使用於英語文獻或其他相同格式的語言。由於中文版與英文版的內部連結並不一致，請儘量不要直接套用英文版的內部連結。例如「July 4」。

欄位參數

  • quotes: 引號，輸入no可使文獻標題兩側不顯示引號。（預設狀態帶有引號）。
  • author: 作者
    • last: lastname，通常是姓氏。
    • first: firstname，可用縮寫。
      • 以上兩個參數將會顯示成last, first;。
    • authorlink 帶有內部連結的作者名稱
    • coauthors: 共同作者
  • date: 例如：January 1, 2006. 請不要使用內部連結。
    • year: 2006. 出版年份。
      • month: January. 出版月份（若「date」已填寫、或「year」未填寫則忽略）
  • title: 文獻標題。此為唯一必填參數。
  • journal: 期刊名。
  • volume: 卷號。
  • issue: 期號。
  • pages: 例如45–47，此為頁數。
  • publisher: 出版商。
    • location: 出版商所在地。
  • issn: ISSN編號，例如1111-2220。
  • pmid: PMID編號，也就是pubmed使用的編號，例如15128012
  • oclc: OCLC編號，例如3185581。
  • doi: doi編碼，例如10.1016/j.coi.2004.08.001。
  • bibcode: 文檔在天體物理數據系統的bibcode,例如, 1924MNRAS..84..308E
  • id: 文章特徵碼。
  • url: 線上版本連結。
    • format: 「PDF」格式。不用指出 HTML 格式，因爲 HTML 是默認格式。
      指定為 'fee required' 如果訪問有限制，則需指明。反之則不必要。
      指定為 'Reprint' 如果文檔是個完全原創的不歸屬任何出版商的文檔時使用。
  • accessdate: URL 最後一次查看的日期，格式爲 ISO 8601 YYYY-MM-DD。 比如， "accessdate = 2024-05-23". 不需要賦以維基鏈接。

當需要生成一個非Wiki內鏈的日期時：

  • accessmonthday and accessyear: 資料查看時的月份和天。例如： 「accessmonthday = 5月10日」,配合年份「accessyear = 2006」這樣的寫法。 生成值為: 2006-05-10
  • laysummary: 論文總結地址，多用於科普雜誌或者報紙。
    • laysource: 來源名稱，例如，「女神」或者「電擊」。
    • laydate: 文章發表日，當不可用時，則為引用總結的日期。
  • quote: 雜誌的相關摘錄信息。
